Notable alumni
Rose Ayling-Ellis (Actress & TV Presenter)
BAFTA-nominated actress, Rose, has appeared on a range of TV shows including EastEnders, Ludwig, Taskmaster, Who Do You Think You Are? and Doctor Who. She became the first deaf person to host live sports coverage on British TV during the 2024 Paralympics, was given an MBE for her service to the deaf community, and received an honorary doctorate from UCA in 2025.
Mark Baker (Animator)
Mark is perhaps best known for being the creator of Peppa Pig and Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom, but before moving into children's television he received a BAFTA award and an Oscar nomination for his 1988 short film, The Hill Farm.
Linda Barker (Interior Designer & TV Presenter)
Linda is a designer who previously worked on the BBC television show Changing Rooms. As well as her design work and other TV appearances, Linda has written multiple design books and newspaper columns.
Michaël Dudok de Wit (Animator)
Michaël's 2000 short film Father and Daughter won both an Oscar and a BAFTA. His works The Red Turtle and The Monk and the Fish were both also nominated for Oscars and BAFTAs.
Gareth Edwards (Filmmaker)
Gareth is the director of multiple Hollywood films, including Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Jurassic World Rebirth, The Creator and Godzilla.
Tracey Emin (Artist)
Tracey is one of the most influential artists of her generation, emerging alongside other famous faces such as Damien Hirst. In 1999 Tracey was nominated for the Turner Prize for her piece titled My Bed.
Daniel Greaves (Won Oscar 1992)
Daniel's 1992 film Manipulation won the Oscar for Best Animated Short and went on to gain BAFTA nominations for 1997's Flatworld and 2003's Little Things.
Tony Hart (Artist & TV Presenter)
Tony was an artist that was best known for his work on children's television on shows such as Blue Peter and Take Hart (alongside iconic Plasticine character, Morph). Tony was also the creator of the original Blue Peter badge design.
Sean Henry (Artist)
Sean is an award-winning sculptor whose most notable works include Couple, Man With Potential Selves and Seated Figure. He also created the sculpture of Tim Berners-Lee found at London's National Portrait Gallery.
Kate Herron (Writer & Director)
Kate has directing credits for Sex Education, Loki and The Last of Us, and is also set to write and direct the upcoming adaptation of the beloved video game, The Sims.
Bob Holness (Radio & TV Presenter)
Bob is best known as the presenter of the British version of the game show Blockbusters. Amongst his other credits, Bob also portrayed James Bond on a radio production of Moonraker.
David Hulin (Animator)
David is the designer of various iconic commercial characters, most notably the GEICO Gecko. David won a Primetime Emmy for his work with FedEx and has also worked with brands such as M&Ms, EA, Samsung and Time Warner.
Sander Jones (Animator)
As well as being the series director for Hey Duggee (created by fellow UCA alum Grant Orchard), Sander also voices many of the show's characters including Duggee himself.
Knucks (Musician)
Knucks is a rapper whose debut jazz-rap album Alpha Place was widely acclaimed and was named best album at the 2022 MOBO Awards alongside fellow London-born rap artist, Little Simz. It was the first time the award had been shared.
PJ Liguori (YouTuber & Filmmaker)
PJ's YouTube channel, KickThePj, is all about art, films, music and his life more generally. The channel has amassed more than a million subscribers and their videos have gained more than 120 million views.
Frederick Lloyd (Director & Composer)
Frederick has directing credits for short films such as Pantheon. He’s also composed music for trailers across major film and TV projects including Chernobyl, Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker, X-Men: Dark Phoenix, El Camino and Alita: Battle Angel.
Karen Millen (Fashion Designer)
Karen founded the fashion brand that shares her name in 1981 and continued to run the business until 2004 when it was sold to new owners. In 2008 she was appointed an OBE for her services to the retail industry.
Grant Orchard (Animator)
Grant is best known as the creator of children's TV show Hey Duggee. He also directed the short film A Morning Stroll, which was nominated for Best Animated Short Film at the 2012 Oscars and BAFTAs.
Dame Zandra Rhodes (Fashion Designer)
Dame Rhodes is an iconic fashion designer, who has designed garments for celebrities such as Diana, Princess of Wales, Freddie Mercury, Marc Bolan and Brian May. She was appointed a CBE in 1997 for services to the fashion industry and promoted to DBE in 2014.
Paul Robinson (Artist)
Paul, known by his alias LUAP, is an artist that is widely known for his signature style featuring a pink bear.
Arnold Schwartzman (Designer & Director)
In 1982 Arnold won the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature for his film about the Holocaust, Genocide. He also has design credits for the Oscars as well as for the Los Angeles Olympics. He was appointed an OBE in 2022 and was elected a Royal Designer for Industry in 2006.
Suzie Templeton (Animator)
Suzie won the 2008 Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film for her film Peter and the Wolf.
Mary Tourtel (Artist)
Mary is the creator of the iconic Rupert Bear comic strip, which launched in the Daily Express in 1920 and is still published in the newspaper to this day.
Darren Walsh (Animator)
Darren is the animator that brought the iconic CompareTheMarket meerkat adverts to life. He is also the creator of the internet series Angry Kid, which became so successful that it went on to be broadcast on BBC Three.
Stephen Webster (Jewellery Designer)
Stephen is a jewellery designer, known for the jewellery company that shares his name. He was appointed an MBE in 2013 for services to training and skills in the British jewellery industry.
Nymphia Wind / Leo Tsao (Drag Queen)
Leo Tsao, professionally known as Nymphia Wind, rose to fame when they won season 16 of RuPaul's Drag Race. They were listed in the arts category in the 2024 Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia as well as one of Out100's 100 influential LGBTQ people of the same year.
